Foil insulation, also known as multifoil insulation is made up of many layers of insulation foil to create a highly efficient thermal insulator. Foil insulation allows you to minimise thermal inefficiency in your property without having to contend with thick, heavy, dense insulation slabs. Multifoil insulation achieves this through the combination of traditional materials and low emissivity insulation foil.
Foil insulation rolls work by reflecting the heat back into your property, reducing the amount of overall heat that might otherwise escape.
Our multifoil insulation range includes products from Actis, who have been a leading supplier at the cutting edge of insulation since 1980. They utilise proven manufacturing techniques with innovative materials to craft highly energy wall, floor and roof insulation.
Benefits of Foil Insulation:
Multifoil insulation is one of the thinnest insulation options on the market. This will allow you to enjoy all the benefits of great thermal efficiency without your insulation taking up too much space as may be the case with traditional insulation rolls or slabs.
Easy to Install
Thanks to its light weight, insulation foil is unbelievably easy to transport and work with. Unlike bulkier alternatives, multifoil insulation is incredibly light, and requires no special protective equipment such as gloves or breathing apparatus during installation. Like natural insulation, this is because foil insulation doesn’t produce much dust or any toxic materials.
Multifoil insulation is considered to be highly effective by tradespeople when compared to traditional insulation materials. Whereas other forms of insulation such as rolls or slabs fight only conduction and convection, insulation foil is also effective at combatting radiation. In addition to this, foil insulation combats moisture very well, preventing damp and condensation from building up.
Combine with Other Insulation
Foil Insulation can be combined with existing insulation, and is simple to install as an additional layer to “top up” the insulation that’s already instal
Thanks to its composition, insulation foil lasts a very long time, with no reduction in effectiveness over time as one might find with traditional slab or roll insulation. The foil prevents moisture build-up in the fibrous centre of the multifoil, which can seriously affect its ability to insulate.
Although most commonly used as a form of roof or loft insulation, multifoil insulation can also be used effectively as part of an insulation solution for floors, walls and more.

Common Questions About Foil Insulation
How Does Multifoil Insulation Work?
Multifoil insulation works by preventing all three forms of heat transfer; radiation, conduction and convection. The low emissivity outer layers of insulation foil are reflective, bouncing infrared radiation back into the property. Some kinds of foil insulation also come with a fibrous centre, which provides additional thermal efficiency, particularly for convection and conduction.
Reflective foil insulation is most commonly used as loft insulation, installed between rafters or studs acting to prevent thermal bridging.
