Frequently Asked Questions
How Does Multifoil Insulation Work?
Multifoil insulation works by preventing all three forms of heat transfer; radiation, conduction and convection. The low emissivity outer layers of insulation foil are reflective, bouncing infrared radiation back into the property. Some kinds of foil insulation also come with a fibrous centre, which provides additional thermal efficiency, particularly for convection and conduction.
Reflective foil insulation is most commonly used as loft insulation, installed between rafters or studs acting to prevent thermal bridging.
