What Are Your Roof Measurements?

Roof Area - Required
'Roof area' is the surface where the tiles will be laid.
Roof Pitch - Required
'Roof pitch' is the vertical rise or steepness of your roof, which can be calculated by following this guide. The pitch of your roof determines the amount you overlap each tile and therefore the tiles per square meter.
Ridge Length - Optional
The ridge is the peak where two opposing roof areas meet. The 'ridge length' is therefore the total length of this peak. Remember that whilst most roofs have a single ridge, some may have multiple ridges.
Hip Length - Optional
The hip is the rafter that gently slopes from each ridge end to the outer corners of your roof area. The 'hip length' is therefore the total length of these rafters. So you do not mistake hips for valleys, just remember that hips meet at an external angle whilst valleys meet at an internal angle.
Verge Length - Optional
The verge is the rafter which runs from the ridge to the gutter at the gable ends. The verge length is therefore the total length of this rafter. So you do not mistake hips for verges, just remember that verges will never be located between two opposing roof areas.
Valley Length - Optional
The valley is the rafter that gently slopes from each ridge end to the inner corners of your roof area. The 'valley length' is therefore the total length of these rafters. So you do not mistake valleys for hips, just remember that valleys meet at an internal angle whilst hips meet at an external angle.
