Industrial roofing and cladding are two of the most vital parts of commercial building design, as these form the primary line of defence against the elements. What Materials Are Best for an Industrial Roof?
Here are some materials to look out for when choosing industrial roof cladding:
Metal
By far the most common material used in industrial roof panels, metal roofing sheets are ideal for many industrial roofing applications. Most often crafted from tough galvanised steel and pressed into a corrugated or box profile, these sheets offer decades of protection against the elements.
Fibre Cement
Although far less common than corrugated steel sheets, fibre cement roofing excels when it comes to agricultural roofing projects. This is due to the unique breathability of fibre cement, which helps to improve internal air quality in the space below. Ideal for any building which houses livestock.
GRP
Although you wouldn’t generally roof an industrial building entirely with GRP, these high-quality translucent sheets are ideal for use as rooflights. They’re often made by the same manufacturer as metal or fibre cement sheets, to easily match the size and profile of the rest of your roofing sheets.
EPDM
As the majority of industrial roofs in the UK are flat or low-pitched, highly durable EPDM membranes are a fantastic choice. As EPDM is applied in a single piece, there are no seams throughout, which drastically reduces the risk of nightmare leaks that flat roofs can be plagued by.
