2021 Global Interior Design Trends Revealed
There’s no question that 2020 has been a year of constant change for all of us, with one of the biggest shifts being the amount of time we spend at home. This increased time spent indoors means that the design of our interior spaces has never had a greater effect on our daily lives. That’s why we’ve taken the time to analyse 2020 Google Trends data from right across the world to discover which interior design trends are set to take off in 2021.
Our research has shown that above all, homeowners are seeking to reinvigorate their spaces with décor that invokes the outdoors, and the clear winner from the UK to Australia is undoubtedly Cottagecore. Cottagecore is an aesthetic centred around an idyllic imagining of traditional rural life, featuring floral prints, plants, and more. It’s seen an enormous surge in popularity, nowhere greater than here in Britain. In fact, Cottagecore is the Number 1 UK Interior Design Trend for 2021, with a staggering 1075% increase in popularity.
Along with Cottagecore, many other natural styles are becoming in vogue, including macramé, dried flowers, and more. Homeowners are also seeking more than ever to bring light into their homes by installing roof windows, with roof lanterns being particular favourites. These trends are echoed across the globe, featuring in the top 10 interior design trends for Australia, along with the USA and Canada.
