Frequently Asked Questions

How Do You Cut Plastic Corrugated Roofing?

Cutting a corrugated plastic sheet is actually a very simple process, and doesn’t require any specialist tools to do yourself. Always remember to wear adequate protective clothing and consult the manufacturer’s guidelines before beginning any work.

  1. Use a straight edge and a felt-tip to mark a line across the PVC sheet where you’d like to cut.
  2. Use a circular saw with a carbide blade to cut along the line you’ve just drawn.
  3. Use an emery cloth along the edge you’ve just cut to smooth it out.

What is PVC Roofing?

PVC or polyvinyl chloride is a highly effective roofing material. Known for both its cost-effectiveness and high durability, PVC roofing is in high demand across the globe.

Corrugated roofing sheets made from PVC can be seen in use on residential properties throughout Britain, particularly for garden canopies and carports. PVC roofing is also common on larger commercial premises, where light ingress is greatly valued and helps to reduce the need for artificial light.

Where Can You Use Plastic Roofing?

Plastic roofing sheets are an excellent, lightweight option for many smaller home and garden projects.

  • Garages and carports
  • Porches and extensions
  • Greenhouses and cloches
  • Lean-to’s and canopies

How Much Does Plastic Roofing Cost?

When using plastic roof sheets, you can expect to spend between £10 - £15 per square meter. This doesn't take into account any fittings, underlays or timber that may be required.

What is the Life Expectancy of PVC Roofing?

Whilst these sheets will typically provide a minimum life expectancy of 10 years, they will often last in excess of 20 years. This is due to the unique formula used, which features impregnated UV protection to prevent discoloration.
