The plastic slates can be installed directly onto plyboard or OSB board, no roof battens are required. A standard breathable membrane is then laid and then the slates can be nailed down in two fixing points located on the slates it’s that easy.
Each pack of 34 slates covers 2m2 (depending on roof pitch) 17 slates on average per square metre for a pitch of 20 to 45 degrees. 7 slates per linear metre for valleys, hips and ridges and 3 slates per linear metre for verges.

Synthetic Plastic Roofing Tile
You will need for your roof
This brilliant slate tile is all you need to complete your project. We are now going to show you below how to calculate how many tiles you need for the roof as well as ridges, hips, valleys and verges. You can build your whole roof with Eco Slate right here. If you are unsure you can also use our m2 calculator here.
The diagram below shows a roof with numbered components. Below the picture we explain what each number relates to and how to calculate how many you need, we have taken the hard work out for you.
- 1Eco Slate (Pack of 34)
Depending on the pitch of your roof you will require the following number of plastic slates per m2
- 10 – 15 degrees = 22 slates per m2
- 16 – 20 degrees = 19 slates per m2
- 21 – 45 degrees = 17 slates per m2
Simply multiply the number of m2 you need to cover by the number of tiles required for your roof pitch, then divide this by 34 (number of tiles per pack) and round up.
For example if you have a 12 degree roof and 25m2 to cover you will do the following sum.
16.18 rounded up 17 = 17 packs required
- 25 x 22 (slates per m2 based on the pitch) = 550
- 550 divide 34 (plastic slates per pack) = 16.18
