What is Eco Slate 100% Recycled Flexible Roof Tile
What is

Eco Slate

100% Recycled Flexible Roof Tile

As seen on Channel 4’s Grand Designs, the Eco Slate is a synthetic plastic roofing slate. The roofing slates bespoke formulation make it extremely strong and very flexible. Eco Slate is manufactured from 100% recycled materials which gives the product a really authentic and natural slate look.

Eco Slate featured on Grand Designs The Eco Slate is very flexible, and it is also used as the Ridge Tile, Hip Tile, Verge and Valley. This unique product makes installation extremely easy, especially for a newbie looking to do any DIY project. Because of its unique flexibility there are no need for any extra custom fittings or accessories and the product can be cut easily with a stanley knife or snips.

Another great attribute to the Eco Slate is that they are self-bonding. This means that after you have installed the roof the slates will naturally bond together over time, creating a roof that is wind (up to 110mp) and weather resistant even at pitches as low as 10 degrees.

This fantastic plastic slate tile is un-breakable and anti-vandal. No more patch repairing or maintenance will be required with the 50 year warranty that comes with the roof tiles.

The plastic slates can be installed directly onto plyboard or OSB board, no roof battens are required. A standard breathable membrane is then laid and then the slates can be nailed down in two fixing points located on the slates it’s that easy.

Each pack of 34 slates covers 2m2 (depending on roof pitch) 17 slates on average per square metre for a pitch of 20 to 45 degrees. 7 slates per linear metre for valleys, hips and ridges and 3 slates per linear metre for verges.

Calculate how much

Eco Slate

You will need for your roof

This brilliant slate tile is all you need to complete your project. We are now going to show you below how to calculate how many tiles you need for the roof as well as ridges, hips, valleys and verges. You can build your whole roof with Eco Slate right here. If you are unsure you can also use our m2 calculator here.

The diagram below shows a roof with numbered components. Below the picture we explain what each number relates to and how to calculate how many you need, we have taken the hard work out for you.

Eco Slate Recycled Tile Calculator
  • 1Eco Slate (Pack of 34) Eco Slate

Depending on the pitch of your roof you will require the following number of plastic slates per m2

    • 10 – 15 degrees = 22 slates per m2
    • 16 – 20 degrees = 19 slates per m2
    • 21 – 45 degrees = 17 slates per m2

Simply multiply the number of m2 you need to cover by the number of tiles required for your roof pitch, then divide this by 34 (number of tiles per pack) and round up.

For example if you have a 12 degree roof and 25m2 to cover you will do the following sum.

    • 25 x 22 (slates per m2 based on the pitch) = 550
    • 550 divide 34 (plastic slates per pack) = 16.18
    • 16.18 rounded up 17 = 17 packs required
Add a pack of Eco Slate to your basket for each:
  • 2Eco Slate (Pack of 34) Eco Slate You will require 7 Eco Slate’s per linear metre for Valleys, Ridges and Hips. Simply multiply the number of metres you require by 7 to give you the total slates required Add a pack of Eco Slate to your basket for each:
  • 3Eco Slate (Pack of 34) Eco Slate You will require 3 Eco Slate’s per linear metre for Verges. Simply multiply the number of metres you require by 3 to give you the total slates required Add a pack of Eco Slate to your basket for each:
